Government of Japan - Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), via Embassy of Japan in Pakistan
Japan
IMPORTANT: This is an exam-based selection process, not purely profile-based. Requires passing a written subject-specific exam (math/physics tested heavily for engineering applicants) plus an embassy interview. Must apply through the correct channel matching your CNIC permanent address - Embassy of Japan Islamabad or Consulate-General Karachi - applying through the wrong channel is a common rejection reason. Applicants must be under 35 years old at programme start. CGPA expectations vary significantly by Pakistani university: approximately 3.5+/4.0 at NUST/LUMS/FAST/GIKI/IBA, 3.7+/4.0 at mid-tier institutions, or first division (60%+) at older percentage-system universities using HEC equivalence tables. Degrees from non-HEC-recognized institutions are typically rejected at intake. Cannot apply simultaneously to MEXT and another Japanese government scholarship.
Full tuition fees, entrance examination fees, monthly living stipend, round-trip economy airfare from Pakistan to Japan, university dormitory accommodation typically provided.
